HumanCharger® sends a UV-free calibrated white light through its LEDSet earbuds to the light sensitive regions of the brain. This activates the brain and hormonal control in response to light. With only one daily 12-minute dose of light from the HumanCharger®, it directly increases alertness and positively affects mood, energy level and cognitive performance (e.g. reaction speed)
The ear canal is not the target for light treatment but is simply a convenient passageway, to pass light through to photosensitive areas of the brain.

The recommended dose of UV-free calibrated white light is 12 minutes, once a day.
70% of users have stated that positive effects are best realized during the morning while 30%, later in the day. Start using HumanCharger® in the morning preferably 30-60 minutes after waking up. For jet lag purpose, please follow these instructions:

The HumanCharger® app can be downloaded onto Apple, Android or Windows phone from the appropriate app store. After download, enter your flight schedule into the app and let the app tell you when to use HumanCharger®.
The HumanCharger® app can sync with your TripIt schedule so there is no need to re-enter your flight information.

Without the App:

You can build a HumanCharger® schedule for yourself by following these guidelines. It's not critical to get the timing exactly right, so you can shift the times slightly to when it's most convenient for you.

During the flight and at your destination:
o Use HumanCharger® four times daily in two-hour consecutive intervals.
o Use for as many days as needed until you feel recovered.

If your flight is westward
o Start in late afternoon (e.g. 3pm, 5pm, 7pm, and 9pm).

If your flight is eastward
o Start in the early morning and continue into early afternoon (e.g. 8am, 10 am, 12pm and 2pm.)

All times being referred to are local times at destination.

Ideally, you can start preparing for your trip 2-3 days before your first flight.
Use HumanCharger® once every evening, and try to go to bed 30-60 minutes later than usual.

Side effects are very rare, however the most common one is a temporary mild headache. Other potential side effects include; sleeplessness, deteriorating quality of sleep or sleep difficulty during early morning hours if the treatment time has not been adjusted. If you experience a side effect, consider changing the treatment dose (intensity of the light and the duration of the session) and altering the time of the day of the treatment session from morning to later in the day.

The device has been tested on adults and not on children or pregnant women, we therefore don’t recommend children or pregnant women use HumanCharger®. We intend to broaden clinical trials in the future, to extend HumanCharger® usage to as many people as possible.

On the first use, the HumanCharger® session starts with the default bright light settings (12min length of the session & 100% intensity of the light).

If you feel that the session is too long or the intensity of the bright light is disturbing or you have unintentionally changed the default settings, adjust settings or restore settings to the default:

1. Turn off the device.

2. Press the power button for three seconds to reduce the length of the session by three minutes and the intensity of the bright light by 25%. For further reduction, keep holding down the power button. There are totally 4 settings to choose from: 12min/100%, 9min/75%, 6min/50% and 3min/25%. New settings are saved to the LEDSet.

3. If you want to return to the default settings, keep holding down the power button until 12min/100% is restored.

Most likely you have unintentionally changed the bright light settings from the default setting of 12 minutes to 9, 6 or 3 minutes.

You can return to the default setting of 12 minutes by following advice on the FAQ "How to change light settings?"
